Students from MAST Academy made a long-distance call Thursday, chatting with an astronaut in charge of the International Space Station, which currently orbits the Earth.

The Miami-Dade school district will host open house for digital learning tools on Thursday at John F. Kennedy Middle School.

Salute to Education, the scholarship program funded by the South Florida Ford and Lincoln dealers for the past 18 years, has announced that it is currently accepting applications online for one of their $1,500 scholarships. Fifty students will be awarded. They also will be awarding each scholarship winner with a laptop computer in addition to the scholarship grant. Deadline to submit the applications online is January 26, 2012. 

Nineteen Coral Reef Senior High School chorus students have competed and have been selected as members of the 2012 Florida All-State Chorus.
